Anyone currently employed as a teacher who wants to get Qualified Teacher Status (QTLS) or simply enhance their teaching abilities should take this course.
To enrol in the level 5 DET, you do not need to have finished the level 3 or level 4 courses. If the minimum requirements listed below are met, you can enrol in the level 5 course right away. The course can be started at any time.
To sucessfully complete this course you must be in a placement so you can complete the practical element of this course of 100 teaching hours and 8 practical observations. you must also have access to a mentor who has a professional teaching qualification and two years or more teaching experience

Approximate study time for this qualification is 728 hours. youhave two years access to your course although you can complete it sooner
You can complete this course through distance learning but you must have a placement and access to a mentor so you can sucessfully complete this course
This qualification consists of the following units:

- Developing, using and organising resources in a specialist area

- Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment
- Internally assure the quality of assessment
You will provided to access to one unit at a time so you can work through your course without being overwhelmed with all nine units. Alongside this you will complete a Teaching file and a CPD file which will be handed in at the end of your course. You will be provided with timetable that has submission dates for each one of your assignments/Units for marking.
Learner Entry Requirements
Learners should be competent in literacy and numeracy to help with elements of communication. Minimum core of literacy, language, numeracy and ICT. All trainee teachers joining this qualification programme will undertake an initial assessment of skills in English, mathematics and ICT. If trainees join the qualification
